Why the TPE Putter?

To answer this question we must first examine the physics of the putting stroke and what happens during the set-up, take-away, and impact.

Set-up (Getting Square to the Target): Every putt is a straight putt (unless you want to use a pool stick and put a little English on the ball!) When setting up for the putt, the primary objective is to get “Square” to the target. In other words, the putter face should be perpendicular to the target. As you can see in the illustration, any deviation from “square”, will result in miss putts.

Take-Away (Bringing back the putter head): As you begin your stroke, this is where things get hairy. Once the putter head leaves its’ point of origin, it is very difficult getting it back into the “square” position so that on impact the ball is going straight to your target and not veering off in a different direction. We have all heard the terms “Open Face”, “Closed Face”, Pushing or Cutting the ball, the “YIPS”, etc. These terms all refer to “Face Angle” at impact. This attributes to 83% of all putting errors!!

Impact (the point of contact with ball and putter): This is the moment of truth. How well you get the putter face back to its’ original position will determine the path of the ball. At this point in the putting stroke, you are either square to the target or pushing/pulling the putt.
